A New Look for Icarian, Built Around Your Cards

We rebuilt every screen in Icarian around card art. Your collection opens with a cover and your best cards fanned out, binders look like binders, and adding a card from search is one tap. On phones, navigation moved to a tab bar at the bottom of the screen.

A New Look for Icarian, Built Around Your Cards

Magic cards are beautiful. Icarian, for most of its life, was not. Your collection page was a title and a row of numbers. Your binders were a table of names. The sets you were working on sat in a spreadsheet-style list, and the best card you own looked exactly as exciting as your thirtieth Forest.

That never matched how collectors feel about their cards. So we rebuilt Icarian, screen by screen, around the art. Every page you use has a new look, and it’s live today.

Your collection opens with your best cards

Your collection page now leads with a full-width cover: art from a card you own, with your five most valuable cards fanned across it, prices on each. Beside them sit your collection’s value with a chart, and a few numbers worth showing off: cards, foils, mythics, your most valuable set and when you started.

Icarian picks the cover and the fan from your most valuable cards until you choose your own. Change cover is a grid of art: click the one you want. Edit showcase gives you a small copy of the fan to rearrange, and you add a card by tapping its art.

Below the cover, each part of your collection gets its own section:

  • Sets you’re collecting are tiles topped with art from your best card in that set, with a big tag showing how complete you are. Your three closest to done get the biggest tiles.
  • Lists you’re chasing show the cards you own from them, with dashed spaces naming the most expensive ones you’re missing, and roughly what finishing would cost.
  • Decks are their commanders, big and bright. Partners fan together. A Built mark shows decks whose cards are set aside, and a lock shows the ones only you can see.

Each section has a See all link to its own page, where you can search, filter and sort.

Your public profile is the same page, as others see it. Your avatar, name, bio and Follow and Message buttons sit on the cover, and a For Trade figure links straight to the cards you’ll trade.

Binders that look like binders

The binders page is now a shelf. Each binder is drawn as the real thing, in its own color, with its best card showing through a window on the front. Set binders show the set symbol and how complete they are, trade binders get a For Trade tag, and card boxes look like boxes. Under each one: how many cards it holds and what they’re worth.

When you make or edit a binder, the cover redraws as you pick its color, set and page layout, and you can choose which card sits in the window.

Open a set binder and it opens like the real one. The top of the page shows how many cards you have out of the set, how complete it is, how many pocket pages to buy, what the binder is worth and what finishing it would cost. The pages still flip. A strip of page thumbnails under the binder lets you jump anywhere and shows which pages are fullest. And Missing only fades what you have, so the gaps stand out with their prices.

Binders that aren’t for one set, like your trade binder or a “Commander staples” binder, now get the same flip-through view. Your cards go into pockets in set order, page by page. Trade binders are the ones you show other people, and they used to get the plainest view of all.

Search that adds in one tap

Card search was the slowest way to get cards into your collection. Adding one card meant opening a window and filling in a form. Now results show the card art, so you pick the right printing by sight, with its price and how many you already own.

Choose your finish, condition and binder once at the top of the page. After that, one tap on + adds a copy, and the confirmation has an Undo. Results update as you type. And if you’re entering a stack of cards, type the set code and collector number (neo 491) to go straight to that printing.

Card pages

A card’s page now opens with the card over its set’s art, credited to the artist, beside its name and rules text. Double-faced and split cards finally show every face: Fire // Ice shows Ice, and Brazen Borrower shows Petty Theft.

Next come the price and its history, then your copies. Mark any copy for trade, remove one (with an Undo), or add another without going back to search. Below that, every other printing with its price, and a new row of cards like this: cards that do similar things.

The quick look that opens when you tap a card in a list, Market Watch or search gets the same look. Other printings and similar cards open right there, so you don’t lose your place.

Everywhere else

The rest of Icarian moved too:

  • Lists get a cover from their most expensive card and a progress panel. Missing cards are tagged with their price, and the Missing tab sorts cheapest first, so it reads like a shopping list. Buy missing copies the list for TCGplayer, Card Kingdom or Manapool.
  • Market Watch shows movers as rows with the card image and the change in big type. A bell on each row shows whether you’re already watching that card, and alerts save in place.
  • Commanders opens with a Heating up row of the commanders people are talking about most this week. Every commander has its own page, with Build a deck right there.
  • Messages is a proper inbox: conversations on the left, the open one on the right, and new messages slide in as they arrive.
  • Error pages each come with a card that fits. A missing page gets Path to Exile. A rejected form gets Counterspell. If we’re ever down for maintenance, you’ll see Teferi’s Protection.

Built for your phone

On phones, the menu used to hide behind a slide-out drawer. Now there’s a tab bar along the bottom, within reach of your thumb: Collection, Decks, Search, Play and More. Every confirmation and error message looks the same, wherever it comes from.

Screenshot 2026-10-21 at 12.48.26 PM.png ## And faster

While we were in there, we made the heaviest pages lighter. Your collection page loads noticeably faster, and sorting or filtering one section reloads only that section. The Commanders page got quicker too.

What’s next

The deck page got the same treatment, and it deserves its own post. That’s coming next.
