What Are Card Lists?

Card Lists in Icarian are curated collections of Magic cards organized by specific themes, rules, or characteristics.

Overview

Card Lists help you discover and track notable Magic cards across different categories:

  • Reserved List - Cards that Wizards of the Coast has promised never to reprint
  • Power 9 - The nine most powerful and valuable vintage cards
  • Elder Dragons - Legendary Dragon creatures, including the original Elder Dragons
  • Dual Lands - Original dual lands from Alpha/Beta/Unlimited/Revised
  • Fetch Lands - Popular mana-fixing lands across various sets
  • Shock Lands - Dual lands that enter tapped unless you pay 2 life

And many more!

Types of Lists

Manual Lists

Manual lists are hand-curated collections where specific cards are individually added:

  • Power 9 - Exactly 9 cards (Black Lotus, Moxes, Ancestral Recall, Time Walk, Timetwister)
  • Original Dual Lands - The 10 original dual lands
  • Reserved List - Cards on the official Reserved List

These lists are maintained by administrators and updated as needed.

Rule-Based Lists

Rule-based lists automatically populate based on specific criteria:

  • Elder Dragons - All legendary creatures with “Dragon” type and specific subtypes
  • Reserved List - All cards where isReserved = true
  • Commander-Legal Staples - High-value cards that are legal in Commander

Rule-based lists update automatically when: - New cards are added to the database - Card metadata is updated - List rules are modified by administrators

Browsing Card Lists

To explore available lists:

  1. Navigate to Library > Card Lists
  2. Browse all published lists
  3. Click on any list to view its cards
  4. See your ownership progress for each list

Targeting Lists

You can “target” lists to track your completion progress:

  1. View any card list
  2. Click Target This List
  3. The list appears on your Collection dashboard
  4. See your ownership percentage and missing cards

Targeting a list is similar to targeting a set - it helps you track which cards you own and which you’re still seeking.

List Progress

For targeted lists, Icarian shows:

  • Completion percentage - How many cards you own from the list
  • Owned count - Number of cards you have
  • Total count - Total cards in the list
  • Total value - Combined value of all cards in the list
  • Missing cards - Cards you don’t own yet
