Managing Your Watchlist
Learn how to organize and manage your price alerts on the Watchlist page.
What Is the Watchlist?
The Watchlist is your central hub for managing price alerts on Magic cards:
- View all active alerts
- See triggered alerts
- Filter by card ownership
- Pause and resume alerts
- Track price changes
Accessing the Watchlist
To view your watchlist:
- Navigate to Watchlist from the main menu
- See all your price alerts in a table
- Use filters to organize alerts
The Watchlist shows up to 100 active alerts (the maximum allowed).
Watchlist Table
The main table displays:
- Card - Card name and image
- Current Price - Latest price from TCGPlayer/CardKingdom
- Alert Type - Target Price or Percentage Change
- Condition - What triggers the alert (e.g., “Below $5.00”)
- Status - Active, Paused, or Recently Triggered
- Actions - Edit, Pause/Resume, Delete
Filtering Your Watchlist
Use filters to find specific alerts:
Ownership Filter
- Owned - Alerts for cards in your collection
- Wanted - Alerts for cards you don’t own
- All - Show all alerts
Use case: Filter to “Wanted” to see buying opportunities, or “Owned” to monitor investments.
Status Filter
- Active - Currently checking prices
- Paused - Temporarily disabled
- Triggered - Recently triggered alerts
- All - Show all statuses
Use case: View “Triggered” to see recent price movements.
Alert Type Filter
- Target Price - Alerts set to specific price points
- Percentage Change - Alerts based on percentage changes
- All - Show all types
Sorting Alerts
Click column headers to sort:
- Card Name - Alphabetical order
- Current Price - Lowest to highest (or reverse)
- Status - Active, paused, triggered
This helps prioritize which alerts to review.
Viewing Alert Details
Click on any alert row to see:
- Full alert configuration
- Alert history (when it triggered)
- Card price chart (if available)
- Related notifications
Bulk Actions
Manage multiple alerts at once:
Pause Multiple Alerts
- Select checkboxes next to alerts
- Click Pause Selected
- All selected alerts are paused
Use case: Temporarily disable alerts for cards you’re no longer tracking.
Delete Multiple Alerts
- Select checkboxes next to alerts
- Click Delete Selected
- Confirm deletion
- All selected alerts are removed
Use case: Clean up old alerts after completing a deck or selling cards.
Alert Status Indicators
Active (Green)
- Alert is currently checking prices
- Will trigger if conditions are met
- Indicated by green status badge
Paused (Gray)
- Alert is temporarily disabled
- Won’t check prices or trigger
- Indicated by gray status badge
Triggered (Yellow)
- Alert recently triggered (within last 7 days)
- Shows yellow badge with notification icon
- Click to see notification details
Understanding Alert History
Each alert tracks:
- Triggered Count - How many times it has triggered
- Last Triggered - Date/time of most recent trigger
- Price When Triggered - Card price at last trigger
View this history to: - See price trends - Decide whether to keep or delete the alert - Evaluate if alert threshold should be adjusted
Managing Triggered Alerts
When an alert triggers:
- You receive an in-app notification
- Alert status changes to “Triggered”
- For one-time alerts: Alert auto-pauses
- For recurring alerts: Alert remains active
One-Time Alerts After Triggering
- Automatically marked as inactive
- Remain in watchlist for reference
- Delete or reactivate as needed
Recurring Alerts After Triggering
- Remain active
- Will trigger again if condition is met again
- Track in “Triggered Count”
Cleaning Up Your Watchlist
Regularly review and clean your watchlist:
Delete Old Alerts
Remove alerts for: - Cards you’ve already purchased - Cards you’re no longer interested in - Triggered one-time alerts that are complete
Pause Seasonal Alerts
Pause alerts for: - Cards you’ll buy later - Seasonal price tracking (e.g., post-rotation prices) - Long-term investments you’re not actively monitoring
Consolidate Duplicate Alerts
If you have multiple alerts for the same card: - Review each alert’s purpose - Keep the most useful one - Delete redundant alerts
Watchlist Best Practices
For Deck Building
- Add all expensive cards from your deck to watchlist
- Set “below” alerts at your max budget per card
- Filter to “Wanted” cards
- Buy when alerts trigger
For Investment Tracking
- Add all owned investment cards to watchlist
- Set percentage increase alerts (e.g., +25%)
- Filter to “Owned” cards
- Sell when price targets hit
For Trading
- Track cards you want via “below” alerts
- Track cards you have via “above” alerts
- Trade when prices align favorably
- Update alerts after trades complete
Notification Management
Control how you receive alert notifications:
In-App Notifications
- Always enabled for triggered alerts
- View in notification bell
- Click notification to see card details
Future: Email Notifications
(Coming soon) - Optional email alerts when price alerts trigger - Configure in Settings - Choose daily digest or immediate emails
Troubleshooting Common Issues
“I have 100 alerts and can’t add more”
You’ve hit the limit. Solutions: - Delete old/completed alerts - Pause low-priority alerts (paused alerts still count toward limit) - Focus on highest-priority cards
“Alert keeps triggering every day”
This is normal for recurring alerts if: - Price fluctuates around your target - Percentage threshold is too sensitive
Solutions: - Adjust threshold (e.g., change from 5% to 10%) - Convert to one-time alert - Pause alert until price stabilizes
“Can’t find an alert I created”
Check filters: - Ensure “All” is selected for ownership and status - Use search box to find by card name - Alert may have been auto-paused after triggering (one-time alerts)
Watchlist Statistics
View summary statistics at the top of the page:
- Total Alerts - Active + paused alerts
- Active Alerts - Currently checking prices
- Triggered This Week - Recent price movements
- Watching Value - Total value of all cards on watchlist
Use these metrics to: - Track how much you’re monitoring - See how active the market is - Evaluate if you need to trim alerts
