Pauper Commander Support
Pauper Commander is one of the best ways to play Magic on a budget. Your commander needs an uncommon printing, your 99 stays common and uncommon only, and suddenly you’re building decks for a fraction of the usual cost.
The problem is that most deck builders don’t know what Pauper is. You’re left cross-referencing rarity on every card, hoping you don’t accidentally add something illegal.
We built Pauper support directly into Icarian’s deck builder.
How It Works
When you create or edit a deck, flip the Pauper Commander toggle. That’s it. From that point on, Icarian enforces the format.

The validation panel catches illegal cards immediately. Add a rare? You’ll see the error before you save. The same real-time validation you’re used to, now format-aware.
Filtered Search and Recommendations
When you’re building a Pauper deck, card search only shows legal options. No scrolling past mythics you can’t use. The commander browser also has a Pauper Only filter, so you can explore which legendary creatures actually qualify.
The part that matters most: recommendations work for Pauper too. Our scoring engine filters candidates to commons and uncommons, so every suggested card is actually playable in your format.

You Probably Already Own These Cards
Here’s the thing about Pauper. Commons and uncommons pile up in every collection. That bulk rare box? Skip it. The cards you need are the ones you’ve been accumulating for years.
Icarian’s ownership tracking still applies. Filter by cards you own, see what’s missing, build from what you have.
Pauper Commander is available now for all decks. Create your account and build something budget-friendly.
