Adding Cards to Your Collection

Learn how to add Magic cards to your Icarian collection using various methods.

Card Search: One Tap per Card

Card search is the fastest way to add cards, one or a whole stack. Open Search from the top bar or tab bar, or Add a card… on your collection page.

1. Set Adding as. At the top of the results, choose the Finish (Non-foil, Foil or Etched), the Condition and the Binder the cards go into. On a phone, tap Change on the Adding as bar. Your choices stay until you sign out.
2. Search. Results update as you type. Each printing shows its art, price and how many you own, so you can pick the one in front of you by sight.
3. Tap +. The + on a card adds one copy, just as Adding as says. Its label names the finish it will add: if a card isn’t printed in your chosen finish, it adds the first one it has (Non-foil, then Foil, then Etched).
4. Undo a wrong tap. The confirmation names what was added and how many you now own. Press Undo to remove that copy.

Entering a stack? Type a set code and collector number, such as ice 324, to go straight to that printing.

Add with Options

For several copies, or a one-off finish or binder, open a card’s ⋯ menu and choose Add with options…. Set the quantity (up to 100), finish, condition and binder, then add them. It starts from your Adding as choices, and changing it doesn’t change them.

Adding from Set Lists

To add multiple cards from a specific set:

1. Navigate to All Sets from the Library menu
2. Find and click on the set you want to browse
3. Browse the complete card list for that set
4. Click Add to Collection for each card you own
5. Use the Add Set button on binder pages to bulk-add entire sets to a specific binder

This method is ideal when you’ve opened booster packs or purchased a set bundle.

Bulk Import from Moxfield

For large collections, importing from Moxfield is the fastest option:

1. Export your collection from Moxfield as a CSV file
2. In Icarian, navigate to Collection > Import
3. Upload your Moxfield CSV file
4. Icarian will match cards and add them to your collection
5. Review the import summary for any unmatched cards

Note: The import process matches cards by name and set code, so ensure your Moxfield export is current.

To bring in one of your Moxfield binders, pick an Icarian binder on the import form: by default the cards you already own are moved into it, and nothing is added. See Organizing Binders.

Understanding Card Printings

Magic cards can have multiple printings across different sets. When adding a card:

• By default, Icarian adds the most recent printing
• You can change the specific printing from the card detail page
• Each printing has its own price and availability
• Foil vs. non-foil variants are tracked separately

Managing Quantities

If you own multiple copies of a card:

1. Add the card to your collection multiple times, or
2. Use the quantity selector when adding from set lists
3. Each copy can be assigned to different binders

Tip: Turn on “Mark duplicates for trade” in Settings → Collection to mark every copy past your first as tradeable.

Removing Cards

To remove a card from your collection:

1. Navigate to the card’s detail page
2. Click Remove from Collection
3. If you have multiple copies, choose which copy to remove

You can also remove all copies of a card at once from your Collection overview.

Common Issues

“Card not found”

• Ensure you’re using the correct card name
• Try a set code and collector number (ice 324) if there are multiple printings
• Some promotional or special cards may have different names

“Import failed”

• Check that your CSV file is from Moxfield (other formats aren’t supported yet)
• Ensure the file isn’t corrupted or empty
• Contact support if issues persist
