A pod is your playgroup: the people you play Commander with. A pod is private until someone in it makes it public (see Public pods). A private pod can be seen only by the Icarian users in it.
Creating a pod
- Open the user menu and choose Pods
- Click New pod (or Create your first pod)
- Give it a name, like “Thursday Night Commander”
You’re the pod’s first member and its creator.
Adding people
Click Add player on the pod page. There are two ways to add someone:
- By username, for friends who use Icarian. They’re added straight away and get a notification. They can leave at any time.
- By name, for friends who don’t use Icarian yet (“Mike”, “Sarah from the LGS”).
A pod holds up to 30 members, and names must be different within a pod.
Linking a name to an account
When a friend you added by name joins Icarian, link their name to their account. Everything recorded for that name becomes theirs. There are two ways:
- Claim link: click Claim link next to their name. On a phone it opens your share sheet, so you can send it straight to them in a message; elsewhere it’s copied for you to paste. (Copy claim link in the name’s ⋯ menu always copies.) They open it, sign in or sign up, and confirm “Join pod as name?”. Each link works once.
- Pick their username: choose Link to an account from the name’s ⋯ menu and search for their username. They’re notified, and can unlink if it isn’t them.
Managing a pod
Everyone in a pod can manage it: change its cover, rename it, add, remove, link and unlink members, and share claim links. The pod’s ⋯ menu, beside Start a game and Log a game, holds Change cover, Rename, Sharing, All games, Season stats, Leave pod and Delete pod.
- Cover: a pod’s cover is, in order: a picture someone uploaded (PNG, JPG, GIF or WebP, up to 5 MB; landscape works best), else any card’s art someone picked, else the art of the commander played most in the pod’s games. Choose Change cover to upload a picture or search any card; Auto goes back to the most-played commander.
- Leaving: choose Leave pod from the pod’s menu. Your entry turns back into a plain name, so the pod’s history keeps you.
- Removing: removed members leave the member list but keep their name on past games.
- Deleting: only the pod’s creator can delete it. If the creator leaves, the longest-standing member becomes the creator.
Public pods
Anyone in a pod can make it public, so you can share its page, for example in a video description. Choose Sharing from the pod’s ⋯ menu, pick Public and Save. Everyone else in the pod gets a notification.
Anyone with the link can then see the pod’s page, signed in or not, and search engines can list it. Visitors see:
- the cover, the name and a Public badge
- the members and each one’s record in the pod
- the last 10 games: who won, on which turn and how, and each seat’s commander
- Season stats
Game notes, fun ratings and Most fun decks, deck names, claim links and the rest of the game log stay private to the pod, and visitors can’t open a game. Someone whose account is disabled, or who has blocked or been blocked by the visitor, shows to them as Hidden player, with their record kept. Anyone who has blocked, or been blocked by, someone in the pod can’t open it.
Sharing also has Copy link, and View as visitor to see the page as visitors do. Pick Private and Save to make the pod private again: its link stops working for everyone outside the pod right away, and it leaves search results over the following days.
Season stats
Once a pod has a game, Season stats on the pod’s cover (or in its ⋯ menu) shows how everyone has done across the pod’s games:
- Games, Slowest player, Longest turn and Most played across the top. The longest turn opens its game.
- Players: each member’s games, wins, win rate, average turn and longest turn, most wins first. Members who have since left keep their row, marked Left.
- Commanders: every commander played in the pod’s games, guests included, with its games, wins, win rate and average turn. Partners count as one commander.
Pick All time, This year or Last 90 days, or choose Custom and set From and To dates, then Apply. The range stays in the page’s link, so you can share a season with the rest of the pod.
Turn times come only from games played with the life tracker’s turn timer on. An average needs 3 timed games; until then it shows a dash. A draw counts as a game for everyone and a win for no one.
