Decks are private until you publish them. Publishing gives a deck its own page that anyone can open, even without an account, and lets you share a primer that explains how it plays.
Publishing a deck
- Open the deck and choose Tools → Edit deck
- Turn on Publish deck
- Click Save deck
You can also turn on Publish deck when you name a new deck. The deck’s public address is /users/YOUR_USERNAME/decks/DECK_SLUG.
The Public or Private chip on your deck’s banner shows which it is. Only you see that chip.
Sharing a deck
Choose Share on your deck’s banner. On a published deck it shows the deck’s public link, with Copy link (and Share… on a phone). Send that link: it opens for anyone, signed in or not. A link copied from your browser’s address bar works too, since it takes everyone but you to the public page. On a private deck, Share offers Publish deck instead.
What others see
A published deck shows its commanders, the full list, its description, its bracket and the Read the primer chip if its primer is public. Visitors can:
- Read and post comments, unless you’ve turned off Allow comments
- Like, clone and export the deck
- Share it: Share on the banner copies the same public link
- See its History (in the banner’s ⋯ menu): every card added, moved or cut. Building and unbuilding stay private
- Report it, if it breaks the Code of Conduct
The deck also appears on your profile, in the community feed and in Icarian’s sitemap for search engines.
Unpublishing
Turn off Publish deck in Edit deck and save. The deck becomes private straight away:
- Its page shows “not found” to everyone but you
- It leaves your profile and the feed, and leaves the sitemap at its next nightly update
- Its comments and likes are hidden, not deleted. Publish it again and they come back, and it returns to the feed where it was.
- Its primer is no longer public
If a moderator unpublished your deck
When a deck or primer breaks the Code of Conduct, a moderator can unpublish it. You’ll get a notification with the reason, and your deck page shows it too. You can still edit, brew and play the deck, but you can’t publish it (or the primer) again until a moderator restores it. See Reporting and Blocking.
Primers
A primer explains how your deck plays: its plan, its combos and the cards that matter. Open it from Tools → Edit primer on your deck.
- Auto-generate primer starts you off with an Overview, Starting Hand and Win Conditions, plus Removal & Interaction, Board Wipes and Tutors when the deck has those cards
- Write it myself starts with a blank Overview section
- Primers are written in Markdown. Type
[[Sol Ring]]to link a card that readers can tap to see. - Print opens a printer-friendly version
Publishing a primer
Click Publish on the primer page (it appears once the primer has a section). Others can read it only when all three are true:
- The deck is published
- The primer is published
- The primer has at least one section
If you publish the primer while the deck is private, a banner reminds you that only you can see it until the deck is published too. Unpublish takes the primer down without touching the deck.
